Castlesaunderson International Scouting Centre

Castlesaunderson International Scouting CentreThis fully accessible facility was officially opened by President Michael D Higgins on 18th August 2012. Castlesaunderson has been designated as one of 5 international Scout World Peace Centres and will play an important role in furthering the development of young people in mutual respect & understanding.

This 30 acre development of a multi-facility and adventure Centre, including permanent Jamboree site, is capable of accommodating 1,000 people and will do much to enhance the border area between Cavan, Fermanagh and Monaghan.

Cavan Town Streetscape improvements

 

Following the Cavan Access Association access exercise a number of improvements were carried out around the town.

  • Junction of Keadue lane & Farnham Street

  • Junction of Farnham Road & Church Street

  • Junction of Cathedral road & Cootehill road

  • Junction of Farnham st & Atbara

  • New concrete surface on Farnham Street

  • Removal of pole outside backs newsagents & relocation of drop kerb opposite side of road

  • Jct of abbey st & bridge street

Cavan inner relief road

77 metres of new concrete footpath with drop kerbs and tactile paving was constructed on Swimming pool road

45metres of new concrete footpath with drops kerbs & tactile paving was installed in Harmony Heights.

Following a request from the Irish Wheelchair Association an accessible parking bay was installed outside the chapel.

Cootehill

A ramp was recently installed to access the footpath on Market Street, Cootehill (close to Drumlin House Shop). The road is higher than the footpath at this location which makes it difficult to eliminate the high kerb from the footpath. This ramp is made of steel & has a non-slip finish.

Green Lough Park

Development of the took place in 2012. The paths are accessible. Funding was obtained for an accessible picnic bench which will be installed in early 2013.
